Abstract This paper introduces a recently developed mean line solver, its implementation and application for the analysis of a highly loaded compressor. Detailed insight in program architecture, calculation methods and assumptions is given. The selection of loss models and correlations is presented and adaptations, which match a transonic blade profile, are introduced. The code’s ability to simulate complex compressor behaviour is demonstrated. This paper closes with results from simulations of the transonic NASA high-speed compressor stage. The results agree well with the published measurement data. Relative errors are below 4% for pressure ratio and 2% for temperature ratio.
